RIOT Deliver New Album To Japanese Label; Bassist PEREZ Gets 'Back On His Feet'
February 8, 2006Veteran hard rockers RIOT have issued the following statement via their official web site:
"Great news, fans. After a good rest, Pete Perez [bass] is back on his feet and is ready to get back into things again. The doctors in both Long Island and San Antonio cannot say why Pete fell down and blacked out for a few seconds but is in good heath and is fit to return to work but should take things a bit easier and start doing some good health prevention. He's not a young pup anymore, as are the rest of us.
"So, fans, thanks for all your prayers and emails you sent in. We will try to reschedule the show at Jaxx if they want us. Also I can tell you right now that a lot more shows are on the way both in Europe and the U.S., and oh, yes, we are not forgetting our very special fans in Japan. Don't worry, as we will be back in 2006!!!
"Speaking about Japan, THE NEW ALBUM HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO EMI, so hang in fans, for you are about to be blown away as this might be one ofRIOT's best records in many years. You will be the first to get it!!
"As soon as I know from Mark [Reale, guitar] what label we will be on in the U.S. and other countries, it will be posted here in the next few months as they are still working on it. I will have a small clip of a few songs for all of you in a few weeks!! Just waiting for the album title as well!! It's coming, fans!!"
RIOT's current touring lineup includes singer Mike Tirelli (MESSIAH'S KISS, HOLY MOTHER, BURNING STARR),who is filling in for regular vocalist Mike Dimeo due to Dimeo's commitments with THE LIZARDS (also featuring drummer Bobby Rondinelli of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW fame).
In a recent interview with Rock N Roll Universe, Dimeo said about the follow-up to 2002's "Through the Storm", "I'm really proud of it. I think it's probably my best performance with the band. The songs are really heavy, really cool. Reale [Mark, guitar] is a tremendous writer, so it's hard to not get great stuff from him. He's such a good writer that no matter what way he does it, his songs usually come out great."
